Opportunity for Natural Rubber Ribbed Smoked Sheets

6 May 2016

Natural rubber is a cornerstone of the Liberian economy. Today, rubber is Liberia’s most valuable agricultural product and accounts for 16% of the country’s total export revenues. With over 100,000 hectares of land available for rubber cultivation, there is significant potential to increase Liberia’s export volumes through investments in plantations and diversified rubber processing. Alongside large plantations operated by international investors such as Bridgestone Group, SOCFIN or SIFCA, more than half of all rubber produced in Liberia comes form mid-sized commercial farms and smallholders. With a ready supply of natural rubber, processing facilities can be established as both a standalone investment opportunity and a way for commercial plantations to couple production and processing, maximizing profitability and market opportunities.
