Mr. Melvin Sheriff brings over 22 years of experience to his role as Executive Director of the National Investment Commission (NIC). Prior to joining the NIC, he honed his financial and administrative skills through 9 years in the private sector, focusing on accounting and management.
Transitioning to public service ignited a passion for promoting investment in Liberia. Over the past 13 years, Mr. Sheriff has become a leader in resource governance and concessions development, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and investment promotion. His work has significantly impacted Liberia's investment landscape.
Mr. Sheriff holds a strong academic credential. He earned a master’s in economics (International Finance) from Shanghai University of Finance & Economics, Shanghai, P.R. China and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Management/Accounting from A.M.E. Zion University College, Monrovia, Liberia. He has further strengthened his expertise through certifications in PPPs, project financing, mediation, and negotiation from the IP3 USA, University of Western Australia, and with Altra Capital, United Kingdom.
